[GUIDE] Verifying your Paypal Account using Unionbank's EON Card

Having a Paypal account is like having an online wallet.

I just want to share to you my experience on having my Paypal Account verified using Unionbank's EON Card (Debit Card) and how you can have Paypal funds in your account.

Nowadays, everything we want can't all be seen/bought in physical stores in our local places. The reason why there is an increasing number of online shoppers recently. But the problem is even if you have Paypal Account and funds on it, you cannot just buy everything you want to without verifying it. Some stores require the verification of your Paypal account since they are using Paypal for payment terms. So how can we verify our Paypal account without using credit card?

If you're living in Philippines, you'll probably be seeing a little light of hope!w All we need is to apply for a EON Card @ Unionbank. This is a debit card which can also be used to verify your PP Account. What's good about this is that Unionbank cards can really be used to verify PP accounts compared to other bank's which can't assist you when you tried to link the cards to Paypal.

HOW TO APPLY FOR EON CARD?

Simply refer to this link: (Click me!) and read carefully. This is for online application. Check if there is a nearby Unionbank branch in your area which accepts online application so you can just pick it up when you go there. In my case, the nearest branch don't accept online application/pick up so I have to go there personally to apply for one.

What to bring when your applying personally to a branch?

  • Be sure to bring 2 valid IDs (Passport and Postal ID in my case. If you're a student, you have to bring your student ID at least.)
  • Photocopies of your IDs
  • 350 Php for the annual fee (Bring it just in case, but I wasn't asked to pay for it on my first visit... not until I got my card.)
Upon presenting your requirements to the assigned officer, you will be asked for your personal information. Please bear in mind that this is a very critical stage so always verify the information you're going to tell the officer. Be sure that the address you'll be filling in is also the address you have input in your Paypal account. Also, if you have a two-name first name (e.g. John Andrew [Surname]) yAnd then you can leave now! You'll  be able to get it after 5 days depending on the time you applied. (If you apply online, wait for 5 days then you can just pick up the card in just one visit to the bank~)

After a week, I went back to the bank to claim my card. EON Card does not require any initial deposit but you have to bring at least Php 200.00 for deposits. Why? This is needed for the verification of your Paypal account. And if you don't have any funds in your Paypal Account, better if you deposit the amount you needed to buy online. Hey! I'm not saying you can use your EON Card to pay directly to a store, ok? This is only if you want to buy Paypal Funds to a Paypal funds seller @ sulit.ph (I know someone who sells Paypal fund at a rate of P44.00 = $1 and the payment is through EON Card deposits. Don't worry, the guy is reliable and trustworthy. ^^) Keep your card number and pin number after claiming your card.

ENROLLING YOUR E-BANKING ACCOUNT

Ok, once you got your card and deposited the amount you needed (the Php 200.00 is required however~), you can now enroll your EON card to the Unionbank Online Banking. Carefully fill up the application. If you possess a two-name first name (e.g. John Andrew [Surname]), please enter the complete first name and don't be confused about what name is on your card. After you complete your application, you will be asked to wait 48 hours before you can open your E-Bank account. While waiting for it, be sure that you have already linked your EON to your Paypal account, or you can just wait for your E-Bank to be activated.

Oh, when you link your EON Debit card to your Paypal, Paypal will charge your card (Php 99.00 in my case) but don't worry because this will be converted to a Paypal fund so when you check your Paypal account, you'll be having more or less $2.00. Then next will be the EXPUSE Number, which will be found in your E-Bank account 2-3 days after you linked your EON to your Paypal. This is needed to complete your Paypal verification.

WHERE TO FIND THE EXPUSE? Easy! First thing to do is log-in to your E-Banking account then browse your transaction history. You have to find a transaction with Transaction Description like this:

VISA-PP*####CODE SG(###)

This should have a transaction amount of 99.00 or 100.00. You just have to copy the number indicated in the #### and then paste it in the Paypal verification window when EXPUSE is asked. Viola! You're done and ready for shopping!w

What?! Fund Problems? Hmm... Yes, since you're not using a credit card, nothing can be used in your PP as payment. It's either you have to work for it online (like me~ ODesk Jobs) or buy it from a trusted Paypal Fund Seller usually found @ sulit.com.ph~ But be very careful... Choosing your seller can lead you to SCAM especially if the offer is very cheap (ex. Php 39 = 1 USD). So never be deceived by them. Always check their feedbacks and make sure they are 100% Positive Feedbacks and has to be not below 30 feed backs.

Making sure you're not going to be SCAMMED by others, here are two trusted Paypal Seller on sulit.com.ph so far (I have transaction with one of them~ ^^):

nocollateral: (http://sulit.com.ph/3189633)
digitalmindz (http://sulit.com.ph/2658515) ← Have transacted with this guy before and very reliable~

Their prices change every now and then, but they are in between 43-44php for 1 USD. How will you be buying funds from them? Use your EON!w That's why I'm advising you to deposit certain amount into your account so you can use it both online and on the real world~ :3
